Most pop-ups rent a room. From October 5, a Seoul district rents out itself.

Seongdong-gu opens “2026 Creative × Seongsu,” turning the whole of Seongsu-dong into a district-scale platform spanning an art fair, music, fashion, beauty, film and webtoons, with dining and tours folded in. It lands in an October when Seongsu is already thick with brand-and-neighbourhood tie-ups — Lotte Wellfood reimagining its Ghana and ABC chocolate as characters at a Musinsa Seoul Forest space, Naver staging its first offline “Nepfesta” for members.

A converted Seongsu warehouse: the district's raw industrial spaces are its exhibition floor.

This is Connect at its most literal: the host is not a brand or a venue but a local government, turning streets into the place where brands convene. Seongsu spent years becoming Seoul's branding district by accretion — one flagship, one pop-up at a time; here the district itself curates the gathering.

‘Creative × Seongsu’ — a whole district programmed like a fair.

When a district office programmes a neighbourhood like a fair, it is claiming the brand-magnet identity Seongsu earned organically and making it policy. Expect other Seoul districts — and other cities — to read the move as a template: the neighbourhood as the unit of cultural programming.

bcd-W angle — the signature Connect — a neighbourhood itself becomes the platform where brands gather; remove the question of who convened whom and it collapses into a festival listing.
